FILM: DISPLACED MEMORIES
3D OBJECT
FILM
In our film, we explore two stories from Perry Lew and Greg Soo-Hoo from when this area was Old Chinatown. Los Angeles has been the home of many diverse groups of people throughout history. These groups, including the Chinese-Americans, Gabrielino-Tongva, Italian-Americans, and French, have been fragmented, minimized, or altogether erased due to practices of selective preservation. We focus on the experiences of two individuals whose heritage connects to Old Chinatown, which was displaced by Union Station and the creation of Olvera Street and El Pueblo.
