MAP

IMmobility.jpg

Alameda Street is the intersection of freeways, dozens of bus routes, and the largest train station in Los Angeles. Moving beyond the facade, this street also contributes to the intersection of people’s experiences with (im)mobility. Our map seeks to reveal the concept of mobility on Alameda street beyond the physical infrastructure that supports movement of people across spaces. By including narratives of tourists, detainees, local residents, etc, a diversity of movement is revealed: regulated, aspirational, nostalgic and forced. These narratives humanize Alameda Street beyond the path of intersection that contributes to the physical mobility of people through transportation and makes us reconsider who and what has access to mobility.
