The collective actions of humanity have the power to contest inscriptions of power etched into the city landscape. We have created a counter-map that states a clear visual contrast between the state’s purported values and sentiments of the people over time. The function of the urban landscape as a means of control is reinforced by the textual inscriptions superimposed on architectural facades. The rhetoric of the protests on the ground level has the power to speak back to said inscriptions, while the very visible markers of injustice invalidate the romantic ideals of government. All-in-all, the failure of juridical promises etched in stone rarely go uncontested.
